Tooth-coloured fillings

Suitability depends on the size and location of the affected area and the amount of healthy tooth structure remaining.
Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment may be recommended when the tissue inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected. The procedure involves cleaning, disinfecting, and sealing the internal space of the tooth to help retain it when appropriate. A crown or another restoration may subsequently be recommended to protect the treated tooth.
Crowns
A crown is a custom-made restoration placed over a prepared tooth to restore its shape, strength, and function. It may be considered for a heavily damaged, weakened or root-canal-treated tooth. Your dentist will explain the suitable material options, preparation required, and expected maintenance.
Inlays, onlays and overlays
Inlays, onlays, and overlays are custom-made restorations used to repair selected areas of a damaged tooth. They may be considered when a filling would not provide sufficient support but a full crown may not be necessary. The recommended restoration depends on the location and extent of the damage.
Bridges
A dental bridge is a fixed restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It may be supported by neighbouring teeth or, in some cases, dental implants. Your dentist will assess the available support, gum health, and alternative tooth-replacement options before recommending a bridge.
Dentures
Dentures are removable appliances designed to replace several or all missing teeth. They may support appearance, speech, and chewing, although an adjustment period is normal. Options can include partial, complete or implant-supported dentures, depending on the number of missing teeth and the patient’s individual needs.
Dental implants
A dental implant is placed in the jawbone to support a replacement tooth, bridge or denture. Implant treatment requires an assessment of oral health, bone availability, medical history, and long-term maintenance needs. Not every patient is suitable, and additional procedures may sometimes be required before implant placement.
